What data we collect & why
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data entered in the comment form (e.g. name, email, comment) along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user-agent string — this is used solely for spam-detection and security purposes.
If you provide an email and choose to use a profile picture associated with a recognized service like Gravatar, an anonymized hash of your email address may be sent to that service to check whether you use a Gravatar. If you approve the comment, your profile picture (if available) may be displayed publicly next to your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, avoid uploading files with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Other visitors may download those images and extract such embedded metadata.
Cookies & Local Storage
- If you leave a comment, you may choose to save your name, email address, and website in cookies so that you don’t need to re-enter them next time. These cookies last for one year.
- If you visit the login page, we set a temporary cookie to check whether your browser accepts cookies; this cookie contains no personal data and is cleared when you close your browser.
- When you log in, we set additional cookies for login status (lasting two days) and screen-display preferences (lasting one year). If you check “Remember Me,” login persists for two weeks.

- If you edit or publish an article, we set a non-personal cookie storing the post ID of the article you modified. This expires after one day.

Who we share your data with
- If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
