HiPath 4000 Communication Server

Description

  • The HiPath 4000 is an enterprise-class “converged communications server” (IP-PBX / hybrid telephony system) designed for medium-to-large organizations.

  • It belongs to the “large-system” segment of the broader HiPath (and earlier Hicom) product family.

  • Its goal: to provide a scalable, robust communication backbone combining traditional telephony (analog / ISDN / digital) + modern IP-based telephony (VoIP / SIP / packet-based), enabling both legacy and next-gen endpoints under one system.

Specifications

  • Support for mixed switching environments (circuit-switched + IP), enabling gradual migration from legacy to IP/VoIP while keeping legacy phones.

  • Unified telecommunications: analog, digital, and IP endpoints can coexist — enabling analog phones, IP phones, and soft-clients in the same network.

  • Multi-site networking: branch offices and remote locations can connect to central PBX via IP, share dial plans, extension numbering, and services across sites.

  • Survivability / redundancy: In IP-based access-point setups (e.g. when using IP phones at remote sites), there are survivability mechanisms — remote sites can continue operating even if the central server or WAN link fails.
